2 Days until something flowerful happens!
There’s a crispness in the air and an unmistakable inkling to throw on an oversized scarf, even if the weather has yet to demonstrate its need for layered trends. We know its coming, autumn heaves away the summer haze as swiftly as a new lust subsides.
And while thoughts of pumpkin spiced lattes and fall’s desired fashions sink into the soul, we cannot forget the majestic beauty of Autumn’s true mistress… the season’s foliage, whose transformations turn every leaf into a floral masterpiece.
So to ease you into the first day flutters of fall, OPLAUS, together with organic cosmetic trailblazer Evelyn Iona bring you something truly flowerful.
We couldn’t simply reveal the surprise right away, its in fall’s nature to tease your inspiration.
Stay tuned!

Interview with fashion photographer ANDREA ZVADOVA -
“Equilibrium”
Walking through the world of Slovakian photographer Andrea Zvadova’s “Equilibrium” shoot is like plunging into the pages of a symmetrically precise, oversized fantasy land. Her portrayal of visual equilibrium challenges our physical sense of balance and structure, leaving our imaginations to carry this three dimensional analogy off the pages and into our own realities.
Zvadova pulls at our inspirational heart string, and leaves the viewing participant with a yearning to think of the world differently, see it from different angles. We nabbed an interview with the fashion photographer herself and got to discover where her inspirations lie.
1. Our current issue theme is "Swirling Seeds of Light". What about light inspires you?
Light is fascinating, it has so many diversities and changes the same object and situations into absolutely different worlds. The infinity of its transformations is a boundless game. I love playing with it, discovering and changing reality into my own vision.
2. What is a constant source of inspiration to you?
My inspiration can be anything, world of fantasy and fairy tales, outside world, situations that happen during an ordinary day, people I meet, books.
3. When you close your eyes, and drift into your imagination... what does it look like?
It is the same thing like stepping into the dream, imagination has no borders and it can lead me anywhere. Depending on the presence and situation. Normally I have a fairy tale look images in my head, beautiful landscapes or there could be dark stories too.
4. Was there something specific that inspired you to make this film/photo?
I cooperated with stylist Ginevra S. Menon on this shoot. She was the one who asked me to work on this story with her. I liked her idea and the concept. That is the reason the whole shoot has seen the light of the day.
5. Why do you create art?
Creating is very necessary to me; I couldn't imagine my existence without creating. It gives me freedom and great satisfaction. I guess it comes from the beginning the talents we have, things we love to do since we are very little. Following our dreams. I have always played with pencils, paints, wools and threads, papers to do some manual art. Later on I discovered the world of photography that led me step by step to the stage where I am now.

“Maybe the only thing each of us can see is our own shadow.
Carl Jung called this his shadow work. He said we never see others. Instead we see only aspects of ourselves that fall over them. Shadows. Projections. Our associations.
The same way old painters would sit in a tiny dark room and trace the image of what stood outside a tiny window, in the bright sunlight.
The camera obscura.
Not the exact image, but everything reversed or upside down.”

“I thought the most beautiful thing in the world must be shadow.”
