An exclusive interview with London based fashion illustrator, Grant Davison.
Grant Davison
Fashion Illustrator
What about fashion inspires you to illustrate it?
I studied fashion and have been working in the fashion industry for 9 years. Illustration has always been a side passion that I have recently started to expand on. For me fashion tells a story, it is a exploration of culture and society, and a form of self expression. It is so rich in colour, texture and life.

What medium(s) do you use?
I like to use a lot of mixed mediums. I usually paint with acrylics, acrylic inks and watercolours, and use pencil crayons and chalks for added textures. Lately I have been doing a lot of digital illustration as you can illustrate on the move, where ever you are.
How long have you been an illustrator, and why are you an illustrator?
I have been illustrating on and off for a couple of years, but never professionally. It is a new avenue that I am pursuing. I illustrate because I love story telling, but have always been better doing this with pictures rather than words.

What can we expect from you in the future?
I am working on a series of illustrations, which I will hopefully be exhibiting.
In your opinion what makes a good fashion illustration?
I think a good fashion illustration evokes emotion. The great thing about fashion illustration is that every artist has their own interpretation of an image.
